Gameplay [ ] Inspired by the three-dimensional games with some elements, the player assumes the role of Goemon, who is set once again to save Japan. Goemon is able to use a large variety of weapons (including his trademark pipe), as well as equip sub-weapons, items and magic, which can be assigned in 4 hexagons for quick use. Another twist is the addition of a white tiger known as Kotora, whom Goemon can use to attack enemies when he locks on them. Localization attempts [ ] The now-defunct company attempted to bring the game to English audiences as Mystical Ninja Goemon beginning in 2002. Motivated to promote a series 'that's never quite received the recognition it deserves here [in the United States],' Working Designs displayed the game in its booth at the same year. Mystical Ninja Goemon remained on the studio's release list until its closing in 2005; it is rumored that squashed the game's North American release due to subpar graphics.

Bouken Jidai Katsugeki: Goemon Also known as: Advance Goemon Action platformer, starring Konami's Japanese hero. Goemon himself generally eschews technology, relying on legwork and his handy pipe to fight through a situation. He's a simple fellow, the adopted son of a carpenter outside the capital city of Edo. Adventure comes upon him suddenly, though, on a dark and stormy night, when a giant monster armed with a massive sword breaks through the door of a castle and steals the power locked within a magic stone. Along with his friends, Goemon sets out to once again save the world. To dispatch the evil spirits that stand in his way, Goemon has a wide variety of attacks, a wall jump and double jump, close to 150 different special weapons and items to collect, and special abilities he can learn from crests that store spirit power.
Some crests simply restore Goemon's health, whereas others grant him powerful magical attacks. Publisher Working Designs attempted for years to bring Goemon to America, with significantly improved visual performance, but the project became tied up in technical and other difficulties, and was eventually cancelled by the defunct publisher. It had already been released in Japan in 2000.
